How we calculate

Every result on this page was checked line by line against an official tool, using the same inputs on both sides.

Verified Nov 3, 2026

Checked against

Result: 830 of 864 profiles match IRCC’s tool on every line; the other 34 are two cases where its tool differs from IRCC’s published criteria, and we follow the criteria (see limitations).

Method

  1. Decide which scale applies: “with a spouse” only if your partner is coming with you and is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Core factors: points for age, education and each of the four abilities in your first and second official language tests, converted to CLB/NCLC levels.
  3. Labour Market Integration factor (new on November 3, 2026): the higher of your Canadian work points plus high-wage occupation points (20, 40 or 70), or your high-wage job offer points (50, 70 or 100).
  4. Spouse factors: your partner’s education, language test and Canadian work experience (up to 40).
  5. Skill transferability: education and foreign work experience combined with CLB 7+/9+ language results or Canadian work, plus a trade certificate of qualification (up to 100).
  6. Additional points: provincial nomination (600), French skills (25 or 50), study in Canada (15 or 30) and a sibling in Canada (15), up to 600.

Not included

  • TCF Canada at CLB 4: IRCC’s tool gives 0 first-language points; we follow the published criteria (6 points per ability).
  • French test first and PTE Core as the English test: IRCC’s tool gives a 25-point French bonus even with CLB 5+ in English; we follow the published criteria (50 points).
  • We don’t check whether you are eligible for an Express Entry program or whether a job offer or high-wage occupation qualifies; IRCC decides that.
  • IRCC’s Express Entry system calculates your official score, and its result governs.

What is a CRS score?

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is the points system IRCC uses to rank Express Entry candidates, out of 1,270 points. It scores your age, education, language tests, work experience, a spouse or partner, skill combinations and additional factors such as a provincial nomination. IRCC invites the highest-ranking candidates in each round to apply for permanent residence.

How it is calculated (November 2026)

Your score adds four parts: core factors (age, education, official languages and the Labour Market Integration factor, up to 570 points without a spouse or 530 with one), spouse factors (up to 40), skill transferability (education or foreign work combined with strong language results or Canadian work, up to 100), and additional points (provincial nomination 600, French skills up to 50, Canadian study up to 30, a sibling in Canada 15; up to 600 in total).

Express Entry CRS questions

What changed in the CRS on November 3, 2026?

Canadian work experience in the core factors was replaced by the Labour Market Integration factor, worth up to 150 points (140 with a spouse). It gives you the higher of two amounts: your Canadian work points (up to 80) plus up to 70 for at least 12 months in a high-wage occupation (20, 40 or 70 points for occupations paying 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times the median wage), or points for a high-wage job offer (50, 70 or 100). Job offers no longer earn separate additional points, and they no longer need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). IRCC is recalculating existing profiles and paused invitation rounds for up to two weeks.

How is the CRS score calculated?

Your score adds four parts: core factors (age, education, official languages and the Labour Market Integration factor, up to 570 points without a spouse or 530 with one), spouse factors (up to 40), skill transferability (education or foreign work combined with strong language results or Canadian work, up to 100), and additional points (provincial nomination 600, French skills up to 50, Canadian study up to 30, a sibling in Canada 15; up to 600 in total).

Does having a spouse lower my CRS score?

Only if your partner is coming with you and is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Then your own core factors are scored on a lower scale (up to 530 instead of 570), and your partner can add up to 40 points for education, language and Canadian work experience. If your partner is Canadian or not coming, you are scored as single.

How can I increase my CRS score?

The biggest gains usually come from a provincial nomination (600 points), higher language results (CLB 9 or more in all four abilities also unlocks skill transferability points), a French test at NCLC 7 or higher (up to 50 points), more Canadian work experience, and high-wage occupation experience or a high-wage job offer. The calculator above shows the gain from each step for your profile.

Is this the official CRS calculator?

No. It follows IRCC’s published CRS criteria and was checked against IRCC’s own Check your score tool. IRCC’s Express Entry system calculates your official score, and its result governs.
